UNIQUE NEW DESIGN WITH ULTRA-LIGHT SPLIT SCREENS FOR FASTER CHANGEOVERS.

Presentation matters. A tray of fried crumbs simply can’t compete with a cone full of long, golden fries smiling at you over the edge. That’s why fry producers increasingly sort by length.

“The modern consumer wants to be tempted and surprised,” says Hans Vermeeren. “That’s why producers work with different potato varieties and create multiple fry concepts. This means the sorting decks need to be changed frequently. A traditional deck is quite heavy and difficult to handle, so you always need two people to lift it. We decided to improve that.”

Our Length Grader 2.0 is equipped with smart split screens. Instead of one large deck, it uses two half decks. This makes them significantly lighter and manageable by just one operator. The old decks were replaced from the top, which was difficult in terms of accessibility. Therefore we developed this split-screen sliding drawer system.

Thanks to the reduced size and weight, one person can now change a deck independently and everything is much easier to clean. “So you save on manpower and can switch the line faster when running a different product. Remove the deck, insert a clean deck with a different perforation and secure it instantly with the smart clamping construction.

These ergonomic improvements ensure we remain at the forefront of vibratory technology,” Hans says proudly. “When I started as a trainee at FoodeQ Engineering in 2010, we delivered our first two one-meter-wide length grader – or short-piece sorter – and it’s still running today. That once again proves we deliver top quality. Of course, a lot has been optimised since then and the machines have become measurably more efficient and energy-efficient.”

FoodeQ builds reliable vibratory length graders for removing (too) small products from a product flow. “That can be anything from carrots to fries, and the vibratory system can be used for both fresh and frozen products. Our traditional length grader was already a success story and I am sure that with this new version we’re ready to make history again.”
